Proverbs 21:21 tells us, 21 He that followeth after righteousness and mercy findeth life, righteousness, and honour. Heaven is the only place that I know of where you will find life, righteousness, and honor altogether, and according to Proverbs 21:21 the only way to get there is by following after righteousness and mercy. When you consider the words “to follow after” it means to let these things be a guide to your life in order to inherit eternal life. Mercy is a fruit of righteousness and without it, no one will inherit eternal life. It is a qualification for getting to heaven. The word means compassionate or kindly forbearance shown to an offender, an enemy, or another person in one’s power. It also means compassion; pity; benevolence.
