HAVE YOUR LAMPS GONE OUT?

Matthew 25:8, “And the foolish said unto the wise, Give us of your oil; for our lamps are gone out.”

Years ago in Sunday School, I was asked to explain what this parable was about?  I quickly replied that it was about “preparation” and I gave an example of preparation that had nothing to do with the Return of Christ.

I knew it was a parable about the Return of Christ, but I don’t know why I said what I said.  When I got home I had a strong feeling that when I got to Bible Study on Wednesday night that I would hear about this, and I was right.

As soon as I walked into the church, my pastor began to teach about this parable and one of the things she mentioned was prayer.  Today, God has given me another chance to explain this parable as it relates to the Return of Christ, and this is what the Holy Spirit gave me.

Sisters and brothers, I have a question to ask you, too?  Have your lamps gone out? Do you still have the light of Christ in you?  Do you still have His joy?
King David prayed in Psalm 51:12, “Restore unto me the joy of thy salvation: and uphold me with thy free spirit.”

There is a joy in salvation that sin takes away.  Christians are supposed to be people full of the joy of salvation even in times of persecution.  Do you know what it means to be called a son or daughter of God. Do you understand the honor that God has bestowed upon you to reserve an inheritance for you in heaven that I Peter 1:4 describes as “incorruptible , and undefiled, and that fadeth not away.”

Do you understand that there are some that will never have this opportunity.  They are the vessels of wrath; but you have it and you take it for granted and while the bridegroom is away you get yourselves involved in all manner of evil and iniquity that takes away your joy until your lamps go out.

And you keep believing a lie that you will be able to confess your sins before you die or before the bridegroom comes, not knowing that He is going to come when you are sleeping, and what are you going to do when you have unconfessed sins?  It will be too late. Some of you could even go to bed and die in your sleep, and some of you could die suddenly; and it will be too late.

Sisters and brothers, I am warning you not to abuse confession or rely on it totally.  I am warning you to watch and to pray because the Bible says that none of us knows the time nor the hour when our Savior will return (Matthew 24:36).  I am warning you to walk uprightly, and I pray that you and me will make it to Heaven.

Grace and Peace be multiplied to you through the knowledge of God

INVITATION
If you have never accepted Jesus Christ as your Lord and Savior and you would like to inherit eternal life.  I would like to invite you to pray this simple prayer with me right now.

PRAYER
Lord Jesus, I repent of my sins.  Thank you for forgiving me. Please come into my life and save me.  I confess you as my Lord and Savior and believe in my heart that God has raised you from the dead, Amen.

I wish you congratulations, and would like to advise you to ask God to lead you to a church that teaches truth.  Get baptized and receive the Holy Spirit with the evidence of speaking in tongues. May the Lord richly bless you and keep you. Amen.
