THE BORN AGAIN PROCESS STEP 2

John 3:3 “Jesus answered and said unto him, Verily, verily, I say unto thee, Except a man be born again, he cannot see the kingdom of God.”

This scripture makes it very clear that the requirement for seeing or inheriting the kingdom of God is to be born-again.  Therefore what does it mean to be born-again?

Is it simply accepting the Lord Jesus and not doing anything else with our spiritual lives?  If this is all it takes to be born-again everyone will get to Heaven, but you and I know that this is not the case.

Therefore being born-again must be a lot more than many of us have come to believe it is.   Jesus said unto Nicodemus except a man be born of water and of the Spirit, he cannot enter the kingdom of God (John 3:5), and even though being born of water seems to be a powerless thing, when combined with the power of God it becomes powerful.

A spiritual transformation takes place as man is buried with Christ in water baptism and risen with Christ in water baptism.  The Bible tells us that the old man of sin dies and a new man arises with Christ to newness of life (Romans 6).
At the end of this process man is born of the Spirit of God just as a mother gives birth to a new born baby.  He becomes a new creature.  He is changed.  He now belongs to God and becomes a part of the household of God.

Man is now responsible for learning righteousness and continuing to walk in the new life.  If man discontinues to walk in the new life, he loses eternal life for the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord (Romans 6:23).
