ROMANS 10:9-10 - BORN AGAIN PROCESS STEP 1

Romans 10:9-10

9.  That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved.

The first step of the born-again process for anyone is to confess with the mouth the Lord Jesus.  Why is this important?  Well, there are many false saviors of the world.  You know their names, but the Lord Jesus is the only true one by whom men shall be saved or by whom men shall inherit eternal life (Acts 4:12).

Choosing the true savior is critical to the salvation of men.  When the true Savior is not chosen, there is no hope whatsoever for men to be saved or inherit eternal life.  Therefore if you choose Jesus, the true Savior, you are also agreeing to the teachings that identify Christ.

I will not expect anyone to confess the Savior Jesus (the Son of God) and follow the teachings of another False Savior.  The Savior plus His teachings go together and even though it is not clearly stated in Romans 10:9.

It is understood that your confession of the Lord Jesus will identify you as a Christian and Christians are supposed to live by the word of God.  When Christians do not live by the word of God, they should not expect to inherit eternal life or remain saved. Believing in your heart that God raised him from the dead is also important to your salvation, as well as believing in his Father (John 5:24).

Romans 10:10
For with the heart man believeth unto righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation.

Your belief in Christ is a belief unto righteousness.  It is a belief to live a righteous life, and not one contrary to the will of God.  This together with your confession and you praying the sinner’s prayer opens the door of salvation and makes you a part of the household of God.

If your belief was not or is not to live a righteous life; then you have been sorely (extremely) deceived.  Therefore, in all your getting, you ought to get understanding because it is paramount to your Christian life.

  • The teachings of Jesus Christ lead you to the end of your salvation—eternal life. The teachings of the devil and his agents, to hell, then lake of fire.

Grace and peace be multiplied to you through the knowledge of God
