Psalm 1:1 “Blessed
is the man that walketh not in the counsel of the ungodly….”
In the book of Exodus, chapter 1, Pharaoh
commanded his midwives to kill every male child that was born by a Hebrew woman
in order to stop the multiplication of the children of Israel in Egypt and
created sorrow in their lives; but according to the scripture, the midwives did
not do as they were instructed because they “feared God.” and consequently were
rewarded with houses by God (Exodus 1:21).
In the book of Job, Job was advised by his wife
to curse God and die because of the suffering that was imposed on him; but the
Bible says that Job rebuked his wife for speaking like other foolish women (Job
2:10). Job, who was described as a man
who feared God, had enough understanding to know that cursing God was wrong.
o People
who fear God have a good understanding of what is right and what is wrong in
the eyes of the Lord (Proverbs 1:7).
o People who have good understanding keep God’s
commandments (Psalm 111:10).
o People who have good understanding find good in
life (Proverbs 19:8).
o People who
have good understanding will have doors of favor open for them (Proverbs 13:15).
Unlike Job’s wife, who was not slow in speaking
and did not have good understanding; Abigail was described as a woman of good
understanding. She found favor with God
to be one of the wives of David after her husband died suddenly (I Samuel 25:3).
A good understanding will let you find good in
life and favor with men and God. Proverbs
31:30, “Favour is deceitful,
and beauty is vain: but a woman that feareth the Lord, she shall be praised.”
The Bible helps man to
know what is right and wrong and helps man to get good understanding.
Grace
and peace be multiplied to you through the knowledge of God.
