Michael   The Tongue James 3:1-12 Lesson 1 According to James, in our quest for perfection, we must learn to bridle our tongues. In his own words, "If anyone offend (stumble) not in word, the same is a perfect man, and able also to bridle the whole body" (James 3:2b; KJV).   Controlling our tongues is a demand of perfection, but more than that, it is a command of God.  It is one virtue that qualifies us to be perfect and, according to James, the restraint of the tongue is the key to the management of the entire body.
